Characteristics: Tie-Dye Red Blend is the wine with ultimate harmony. We start by carefully selecting unique varietals that each bring distinctive aroma and flavor characteristics to the final blend. Syrah’s structure provides the backbone while the Petite Sirah adds density, rich color and texture. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Grenache add deep dark red and black fruit aromas and flavors completing the blend with a silky mouthfeel and a complex fruit-forward expression.

Tasting Notes: The wine has an intense ruby color with luscious aromas of black currant, dark cherry, boysenberry, raspberry and blueberry along with cedar, caramel, clove, cinnamon and a hint of roasted coffee. Delicately composed layers of pure berry flavors open up on the palate while the supple acidity melts into a silly mouthfeel and elegant spice notes add depth and complexity. Tie-Dye 2014 “North Coast” Red Blend makes a bold and sophisticated statement.

2014 Vintage:
The 2014 vintage in the North Coast was very much like the outstanding 2013 vintage. Characterized by a dry and warm Spring and Summer, the grapes ripened fully with beautiful intensity and color. Harvest was optimal with perfect weather – 2014 will be another highly-regarded vintage.

Winemaking:
The grapes were hand-picked during the night at absolute ripeness. The tenderly destemmed whole berries were immediately inoculated with yeast for pure fermentation. Gentle, yet maximum extraction of grape color, flavors, and mouthfeel were accomplished by three times daily pump-overs during fermentation. Some lots further went through extended maceration to balance tannin structure. After fermentation, the wine was aged in barrel for 24 months.
